Amber Heard will pay Johnny Depp $1 million to settle the $10.35 million in damages a jury awarded him in his defamation claims against her.
The jury awarded Heard $2 million for her counterclaim against the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star at the June trial over whether her published claims of abuse were defamatory.
The payment is expected to end the ongoing battle between the exes, who split in 2016. In a statement on Instagram, Heard said she “lost faith in the American legal system.”
Though Heard appealed the decision, she said “the best outcome would be a re-trial where a new jury would have to consider the evidence again, adding that she “simply cannot go through that a third time.
