Later this year, the thriller Emancipation, starring best actor Oscar winner Will Smith, will be released.
Following Smith’s on-stage slap of host Chris Rock at the awards show in March, rumors surfaced that Apple would push back the film’s release date until 2023.
However, it will now debut in theaters on December 2 and be able to be streamed on Apple TV+ a week later, making it eligible for the Oscars in 2019.
But Smith is banned from attending the ceremony for ten years.
With Coda, Apple became the first streaming service to win best picture at the Oscars.
